Hello world!
It’s taken me a lot of soul searching to start this site. Publicly admitting imperfection is never easy, no matter how obvious the flaws may be to other people.
A few years ago (okay, let’s be honest here, a decade ago) a combination of circumstances caused me to completely lose control of my world. Over the past 5-6 years I’ve managed to reacquire all the scattered threads of existence, save one – my home. It can generously be described as a post-earthquake warehouse, with paths. While I’m impressed with my heating bills over the last few winters (6+ feet of insulation along every outside wall is, frankly, incredibly effective), I think I’ve reached the stage where I’d rather have room to put friends, and to not have to walk sideways.
I’ve tried many different things over the years to try to regain control, with varying degrees of success. Co-opting friends and family, professional organizers, marathon sessions during holidays, slow and steady planning…. nothing seems to have lasted for long; something always cropped up to derail things. To my credit, I usually manage to maintain the improved state for quite some time; at least until enough time passed to initiate attrition again under the sheer weight of inertia.
Welcome to the latest in a long line of ploys to force myself to “get a handle on things, already!” via the accountability of a public record of progress (or lack thereof). Let’s see how long this lasts….
I’m not brave enough yet to post pics or vids of the current situation, but I’m working on that. Hopefully the graphic record (in every sense of the word) will be sufficient to track and maintain progress. I’m going to focus on the three main downstairs areas: the living room, the kitchen and the studio. No one wants to see the bathroom, and my bedroom is my own business!
And so the journey begins….
I’m SO looking forward to following the excavation of Linda!
