General update
Just to prove that I haven’t forgotten all about this, I thought I should post something. It’s been chaotic lately and things have fallen off the radar, so here’s a quick recap.
My broken furnace has been fixed, thanks to a wonderful fixit-guy recommended by JR. It’s so wonderful to hear it go *bonk* when it comes on in the evenings, and to know that I won’t have to be scraping frost off the walls in a week or two.
My home computer was power-failured into the Great Beyond and remains dead. I may be lucky, and it may just be the power supply, but I haven’t had time to swap it out to check. All my documents and data are backed up, but it’s still going to be a pain, whatever happens. I’m really hoping it’s a dead power supply, but the pessimistic bits of me just laugh at that and point at the motherboard. Stay tuned.
It’s been so dry lately that the house has shifted to the point where I can’t get the deadbolt on the back door to engage, so it’s currently secured with a large metal bar. Definitely secure, but convenient……? Not so much. The gate in the back has shifted significantly, too, to the point where I have to ride one half of it to get it low enough to latch. Fun, but worrisome. Currently I’m praying for rain. Lots of rain. Not flooding-lots, but still more than the mere dampenings that have been happening recently. If that doesn’t happen, I’ll have to move the latch, but since things will undoubtedly shift again when the ground freezes, I may just hold off on doing that for a month or so.
The non-mobius skirt is nearly done!! *wOOt* Just a couple more inches on the ruffle and it’ll be ready for washing, blocking, and the finishing touches of elastic and lining. I’m so happy. I hope it fits.
I took a road trip to Drumheller to meet a friend for lunch (and to bug Deb in her new office) and to visit the Royal Tyrell Museum, which I haven’t seen in years. It was heartwarming to see that the restaurant that I used to go to with my parents, 35ish years ago, was not only still there, but looked very much as I remember it looking. I’m discovering a hidden love of road trips this year. I may have to continue the trend, weather permitting.
Well, that’s about that for now, I think. Needless to say, nothing much has been happening as regards excavations, but at least I’m managing to maintain the previous progress. I have new bins awaiting the time needed to fill them, so hopefully soon. Once all the fall-related things, like winter tires, are completed.
